BEST TIPS FOR TRANSITIONING TO NATURAL HAIR

Transitioning is simply the process of growing out your natural hair relaxer free without having to Big Chop (cutting off all your hair), then gradually trim out the relaxed ends as the natural hair grows.
This is usually the go to method because most women are scared of cutting it all out. Lately, I have gotten a few requests to make a post on how to manage the hair while on transition. Now I am no expert on this because I also started not to long ago but my research game is lit.

First you need to know this process is not easy, you have to be mentally prepared and be very patient to be able to enjoy your hair. With that settled, the most common issues people face while transitioning is "Dryness"
When our hair is dry, it becomes really painful to comb hence lots of breakage. This can be so frustrating that you will be tempted to go back to relaxers, Don't! The key is moisture, below are a few tips to help keep your hair moist and soft.

1. Don't comb your hair while dry

Combing your hair while dry can be really painful (infact enough to make you race back to relaxers lol) and it will lead to maximum breakage. Please stay clear unless it haff tire you😜

2. Pre-Poo before washing

Pre-Poo simply means moisturing your hair with oil or some form of conditioner before washing, should be left on hair for like 30 to 1 hour before wash time.

3. Wash with Non sulphate shampoo

When buying shampoo read the ingredients to be sure its sulphate free because sulphate dry out the hair super fast so watch out for it.

4. Detangle with lots of conditioner

It is best to detangle your hair with your fingers while there's conditioner on it.

5. Apply Leave in Conditioners

There are lots of leave in conditioners in the market, it should be your new best friend because it keeps the hair moisturized always. I personally use Cantu leave in conditioner or even raw shea butter then seal in with oils like coconut oil. Also you can get a water spraying bottle and sprinkle little water on your hair before bed

6. Trim Regularly

While on transition, your hair is bound to fall off gradually. A nice trim of the relaxed ends gradually will help the appearance of your hair.

7. Avoid direct heat

If you are serious about achieving a healthy natural hair then you have to stay away from direct heat, bye to straighteners, hot drying... a little heat isn't going to damage your hair but its best to avoid it as much as possible. I normally allow my hair air dry or use cool dryer option.

These are a few basic steps to help ease your transitioning process, yes its a lot of work but it will all be worth it at the end, make up your mind today and good luck
